Little Known Facts

Did you know that when Garth Brooks released his single ‘The Thunder Rolls’ that many radio stations refused to play the song due to the subject matter being about a wife beater. For that same reason the video was also banned for several years by Nashville Network and CMT( Country Music Television).

Did you also know that in ‘The Thunder Rolls’ video that the man beating his wife is actually Garth Brooks in a beard and glasses.

Were you aware that two of Garth Brooks songs have a third verse that can only be heard during his live performance; the songs are ‘The Thunder Rolls’ and ‘Friends in Low Places’. The third verse in ‘The Thunder Rolls’ goes like this: she runs back down the hallway reaches for the pistol kept in the dresser drawer tells the lady in the mirror he won’t do this again and the third verse in ‘Friends In Low Places’ goes like this: Well I guess I was wrong I just don’t belong but then I’ve been there before everything’s alright I’ll just say goodnight and I’ll show myself to the door hey, I didn’t mean to cause a big scene just wait till I finish this glass and sweet little lady I’ll head back to the bar and you can kiss my ass!

In about 1989 a country artist from Oklahoma burst on to the music scene with a song called Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) that artist; Garth Brooks. From there on in there was nowhere for him to go but straight to the top. With singles such as Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old), Shameless, Ain`t Goin`Down (Til`The Sun Comes Up), Rodeo, The Thunder Rolls, Friends In Low Places, not to mention many more Garth became the number one country music singer of the 90`s. In the year 2000 there was a movie rumored to be made called The Lamb.

The Lamb was going to star Garth Brooks as a punk rocker named Chris Gaines. Garth in preparation for the roll created an alter ego named Chris Gaines and under the name of Chris Gaines, Brooks changed his appearance and recorded an album called Garth Brooks… In The Life of Chris Gaines. How ever the movie The Lamb never did get made Brooks kept his alter-ego and even did a guest appearance as Chris Gaines on SNL (Saturday Night Live).

In 2001 Garth announced to the Country Music world that he would be retiring from not only making music but also touring until his youngest daughter, Allie turned 18. Garth for the most part has kept his word with only a couple of exceptions one was when he did a tribute to his friend Chris LeDoux and recorded the song Good Ride Cowboy which was found on his The Lost Sessions Album. He then recorded  three new singles called: More Than A Memory, Workin`For a Livin`, and Midnight Sun. The three singles can be found on Brooks`Ultimate Hits two disc album.

In 2009 Brooks announced that he was coming out of retirement and playing in the  Encore Las Vegas  on the Las Vegas strip. Brooks contract is for him to play a few weeks a year until the year 2015 which just happens to be the same year his daughter Allie turns 18.
